Overview
The chemical industry is a dynamic, forward-looking, high-tech industry, it is important to our economy and active in the protection of the environment.
The Chemical Industry produces around 70,000 products in the UK which directly affect our quality of life: synthetic fibres and permanent-press clothing, life saving medicines, health improvement products, protective packaging materials, longer lasting paints, stronger adhesives, more durable and safer tyres, lightweight automobile parts, and stronger composite materials represent just a few of the products.
Although the market is traditionally segmented into Basic Chemicals, Specialty Chemicals, Life Sciences, and Household Products and each has its own characteristics, there is a shared need to operate at the most efficient pace, quality and output in an increasingly competitive environment.
From Basic to Specialty Chemical manufacture, the market is fast becoming a mature, least-cost-producer dominated marketplace, where scale and cost base are keys to success. Overseas competition has led to much M&A activity in a bid to secure market share. Meanwhile smaller manufacturers focus on carving out niche markets.
Newton works with these companies to provide specific, measurable, operational improvements which include increasing productivity, reducing wastage, managing inventory, and reducing operational costs.
"You came in and created a huge focus on the issues that mattered" Operations Director
